DAYCO IVREA, A COMBINATION OF TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND ORGANISATION

First-class production. Quality Guarantee.
Design and production of the most sophisticated power transmission systems for original equipment.

The DAYCO plant of Ivrea, one of the four Italy-based production sites of the world leader in the design and production of OEM power transmission systems, has been operational since 2000. Over less than a decade, it has become a state-of-the-art industrial site, both at national and international level, in terms of technology, innovation and organisation. The production unit is located in San Bernardo, in the industrial area where a historical Olivetti plant was built in the past. The unit covers an area of 43.000 sqm, of which more than 24.000 are covered. The Ivrea plant currently employs 560 persons.

Last generation of EPDM Poly-V S belts
15/10/2008

Dayco, a worldwide leader in power transmission solutions for motorcars, commercial and industrial vehicles, has always considered research and technical innovation as its flagship. In the framework of the company’s continuous product improvement policy, the Dayco laboratories have developed a new EPDM structure for the Poly-V S belts.

These new-generation belts, resulting from the ongoing cooperation between Dayco and the Engineering departments of the major car manufacturers, are the most innovative product currently available on the market, in terms of materials and production processes used.

Developed to offer higher reliability and increased life time, through the use of new-generation polymers, the Poly-V S belts guarantee an extremely silent operation, even in very critical working conditions and environments.

This type of highly innovative and efficient belt is now available for the aftermarket, with an identical structure or a structure similar to the belts used in original equipment. It is available for all the last generation of both petrol and diesel engines.

The organisation and management of data  is today of crucial importance. This is extremely complex to implement, owing to the ever increasing volume of data to be processed. Vehicle Applications, manufacturing dates of production (initial and final), are only a part of the information required on a daily basis.
The use of computer systems and Internet is now consolidated in many everyday activities, both private and professional; the constant updating of information on line is expected by the users and has thus become a necessity for suppliers.

To fulfil the requirements of its customers, Dayco is introducing a new site www.dayco.com, which has been fully revised in terms of both graphics and content.
Structured in such a way as to allow a quick and easy search for information, it is designed for the whole users’ network. The site not only includes sections on commercial information (news, product description, international events, local events, etc) but also sections dedicated to technical information (on-line catalogues, diagnostics, new products, technical data).

DAYCO’S new on-line catalogue section, has been completely updated in terms of content and graphics. Designed to be user-friendly, it allows the user to source  information by vehicle application, by competitor part number or  code, or simply by entering the quick search codes.

This new working tool comes complete with comprehensive descriptive and photographic information that is updated daily, in order to meet the dynamic requirements of the market in the most effective way.

To complete this tremendous update we have added a new products section. This can be filtered by production date, vehicle manufacturer, or actual product group. Under technical information, we list data related to more complex applications, plus the user can download our latest catalogue and updates directly to their PC.

Accurate prints can be made from these sections (list of products by application, list of applications by products, new products, technical data). This data is constantly updated.

For further information, please use the addresses provided in the Contact section of the site.

Dayco: Research, Quality, Reliability abreast with the times.

16/07/2008

Established in 1905 as a producer of rubber items, over the years Dayco specialised in power transmission systems designed for the automotive and heavy traffic (trucks – buses) sector to become a world leader in this market segment. Dayco is not merely a producer of timing belts and V-belts but also of rigid components such as automatic and fixed tensioners, dampers, pulleys, water pumps, etc.

In an increasingly demanding market where quality and reliability are the main features required from every product, Dayco innovates, designs and produces for the major car manufacturers, working in close cooperation with their engineering departments and is therefore in a position to guarantee to the aftermarket a quality equivalent to that of original equipment.

The highly advanced research on materials and production processes has allowed Dayco to produce increasingly efficient belts to fulfil in the best possible way the increasingly demanding requests from the engine designers, in terms of mechanical and thermal stress and reduction of the overall dimensions. In the light of these new requirements, Dayco has designed new structures for timing belts and Poly-V belts.

A typical example of this evolution is represented by the HT belt (High Tenacity).
This type of timing belt has the internal fabric coated with a film of highly abrasion resistant material, designed to reduce to a minimum the fabric wear on the lap and on the teeth sides.

It guarantees a longer service life on diesel engines where, in some cases, the injection pump pressure can exceed 2000 bar. Developed and available for TDI Audi and VW engines, on TD TDCi Ford , DCi Renault, JTD Fiat and HDi PSA. For special applications, fabric is applied on the back of the belt to increase resistance to side wear, to compensate for possible misalignment between the pulleys.

Belts with this new type of structure are currently fitted on virtually all new-generation diesel engines, which makes Dayco a leader in this market segment.
